Community Information

Digital Citizenship Week: October 16-20, 2017

Live Oak will participate in “Digital Citizenship Week.” This week, SRVUSD is bringing awareness to our community about the importance of Citizenship in the Cyber world. If you would like more information from the district, please click here. In our efforts to keep our students safe, Live Oak is a Common Sense Media Certified school. Common Sense is also promoting activities this week, and Live Oak is utilizing many of its resources. Visit the Common Sense website for more information.

As your children share what they learn with you this week, we will focus on 2 main topics. The first is being aware of “Online Privacy.” The district has resources on how to set up your home network security. Another resource that you and your family can discuss during dinner is setting up a Family Media Agreement. The second topic is for our families to have a #DeviceFreeDinner. We would love all families to set aside Thursday, October 20th for this activity. We encourage all families to participate and spend a quality dinner to reconnect with each other by having meaningful conversations around the dinner table. You can participate by registering here. Students, who share how their respective families were “device free,” will receive a C.A.R.E. ticket from their teacher.
