Live Oak School Site Council

The Live Oak Elementary School Site Council, which governs the goals and plans of the school, is made up of teachers, administrators, classified employees, and parents.

We are looking for four parent representatives to join the School Site Council for the next two-year board term (Fall 2018-Spring 2020). Elections will take place during Open House in May.

If you are interested in serving, complete the School Site Council Statement of Interest and Qualifications Form. The deadline to submit the form is Friday, May 4th.

I love being on School Site Council because it offers me a regular opportunity to connect with parents and other members of our Live Oak community. My favorite part is being able to share what is happening on campus with parents, and hear from them what they are noticing outside of school, and get their ideas on how we can better support students while at school. It is a great opportunity to support the common goal- making sure ALL our students succeed to the best of their abilities!

We will explore topics related to public school funding in California.  The day will begin with a level-setting presentation about education funding in CA including  with Jeff Camp the founder and primary writer for Ed100.org.  This will be followed by a panel discussion that will add different perspectives to the continued conversation, including a PTA state budget advocate, an Assembly Education Committee staffer, and policy analyst from the California Budget & Policy Center.  We’ll also participate in the CA Budget Challenge exercise which provides hands-on experience in the trade-offs addressed in creating a budget.  After lunch, we’ll hear from our state legislators in a moderated panel followed by an opportunity to put what we’ve learned into action.  For more information and registration, visit PTA Advocacy Day for Education 2018.
