Honorary Service Awards - FAQ
Honorary Service Award Committee Selection Criteria:
Awards will be given for outstanding service, not routine and/or assigned responsibilities. We are lucky at Live Oak to have many fabulous volunteers, staff, and teachers who do great work every day and deserve our applause. The HSAs will be awarded to those who not only did their job, but who go beyond the basic description and also volunteer, lead, or provide additional support, innovative program/service(s), etc to the school.
Who can receive an Honorary Service Award?
The committee would like to encourage nominations from all three parent organizations at Live Oak (PTA, Ed Fund, Site Council) as well as the teachers and staff. Community nominations are also welcomed (scout leader, coach, speaker, vendor, donor, etc).
How do I nominate someone? Can I self nominate?
Nominations and self-nominations are accepted online. To be considered all questions must be answered on the nomination form. If additional space is needed to detail the work or contribution of the nominee it can be emailed (by the deadline) to hsa@liveoakpta.net.
What are the different types of Honorary Service Awards?
The program offers six distinctive awards:
The Very Special Person Award recognizes an individual or organization for their service to PTA.
The Honorary Service Award recognizes those individuals or organizations for their outstanding service to the youth in our community, going above and beyond what is asked of them.
The Continuing Service Award recognizes those individuals or organizations for their ongoing and long-term service, year after year, to the youth in our community.
The Golden Oak Service Award is the most prestigious PTA award in California. This award recognizes an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school or community.
The Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes a teacher for outstanding service to children and youth through PTA, school, or community.
The Outstanding Administrator Award recognizes an administrator for outstanding service to children and youth through PTA, school, or the community.
When will the awards be given out?
The awards will be presented at May's PTA Association meeting.
Who is on the HSA Committee?
We are currently looking volunteers to sit on the HSA committee. All current LO PTA members are invited to participate; please email hsa@liveoakpta.net if you are interested in participating on the committee.
