Room Parents
The two primary roles of a room parent are:
To provide support and assistance to the teacher; and
To assist the Live Oak Parent-Teacher Association (“LOPTA”) in communicating directly with the classroom community in order to:
Promote school-wide activities sponsored by the LOPTA and Live Oak Education Fund and to recruit volunteers for such events;
Encourage participation in the school community and the LOPTA; and
Promote Spirit wear and spirit wear days (i.e. Crazy hair day).
The lead Room Parent is not expected to take on all planning or volunteering. Room Parents work closely with teachers to identify classroom support needs then coordinate events and assist in recruiting as many volunteers as possible.
Involving other parents will build a stronger sense of community and ease the amount of direct responsibility you take on.
